Welcome Address

The Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society of Hyderabad proudly announce the ICOG Workshop on “Non descent Vaginal Hysterectomy and Surgeries for stress Urinary incontinence” to be held at Owaisi Hospital, Hyderabad. We take pride and pleasure in inviting you all to be a part of this focused live demonstration extravaganza. Sincere efforts are being made to upgrade, technical expertise and surgical advancement in various aspects of the most common problems in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in women in developing the world.

National experts in these fields from around the country and eminent personalities from FOGSI have shown their interest to be part of the workshop. It offers a learning opportunity to the participants by facilitating a forum for exchanging information and updating themselves.

Inaugural Session

Dr. Shantha Kumari, Secretary, OGXH welcomed all the delegates to the workshop. The programme was initiated with a prayer by Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi followed by Lighting of the Lamp by all the dignitaries. Dr. Roya Rozati welcomed the delegates on behalf of the Owaisi Hospital .

Dr. K. Swarajyalakshmi, President, OGSH addressed the gathering, and introduced the eminent faculty invited for the workshop. This was followed by giving away of the members to all the faculty.

Session – I

Introduction of Vaginal Hysterectomy - By Dr. K. Satyavathi, Former Supdt. Prof. & HOD

Dr. Satyavathi gave an introduction to Vaginal Hysterectomy. She stressed the necessity of every gynaecologist to know the techniques of Vaginal Hysterectomy. A discussion on the selection criteria, advantages over the abdominal Hysterectomy and the limitations ensured.

Demonstrations of Non Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy –

Two cases of Vaginal Hysterectomy were demonstrated to the audience. Vaginal Hysterectomy scores over other modalities of Hysterectomy, like abdominal Hysterectomy and Lap Hysterectomy where there is no scar on the abdominal, early recovery and ambulation. The difference in surgical techniques was appreciated by the participants.

Interaction :- There was very good interactions between doctors. Dr. Parikh took active part in discussing various techniques of Vaginal Hysterectomy.

Dr CS Dawn Lecture by Dr M.N.Parikh

Dr. M. N. Parikh, Past Chairman, ICOG gave the pretigious “ Dr. C.S. Dawn Lecture” on Contraception – Past, Present & Future.

He spoke about the origin of various contraceptives from the beginning and elaborated on the changes that took place in each, type of contraception focusing on with their advantages

Session – II

Demonstrations of Surgeries for Urinary Incontinence – By Dr. Rajamaheshwari,

Urogynaecologist Channai

Dr. Rajamaheshwari gave a brief introduction of the surgeries involved for Urinary Incontinence to the audience present and went on to demonstrate a case of TVT Cystocele repair using Gynaec Mesh. The TVT surgery for Stress Urinary Incontinence is minimally invasive, simple, effective with minimal hospital stay and complications.

Conclusion  

The ICOG Workshop was attended by more than 175 Gynaecologists from all over AP. They had an opportunity to view the live demonstration of surgeries and were able to interact with the faculty in detail about the procedures, it updated the knowledge of the participants. The procedures and techniques were appreciated by all present. The workshop convened note of satisfaction.

We invite all our members to be a part of this learning opportunity.
